BERLIN, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of German international forward Jonathan Burkardt from league rivals Mainz 05, both Bundesliga clubs confirmed on Friday.
The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract, keeping him at the club until June 2030.
Burkardt, who progressed through the youth ranks at Mainz and made his senior debut in 2018, leaves the club as its all-time top Bundesliga scorer, having scored 41 goals in 136 appearances.
His outstanding 2024-2025 season saw him score 18 goals in 29 league matches, the highest single-season tally by a Mainz player, and he finished as the fourth top scorer in the Bundesliga.
"From the first talk, there was a strong sense of trust and a clear sporting vision," said Burkardt. "I was immediately excited by the project. I am proud to be joining Eintracht Frankfurt and can't wait to get started at this special club."
"Jonny has qualities that perfectly fit our system," said Eintracht sporting director Markus Krosche. "He has proven his eye for goal and tactical discipline at the highest level. His team-first mentality, both on and off the pitch, makes him an excellent fit for our club." ■
